Invictus Games Toronto 2017 Opening and Closing Ceremonies
Transforming Empathy into Empowerment
PRP's vision for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies was for spectators around the world to engage with the Invictus mission of transforming empathy into empowerment.
THE GOAL
The Games raised awareness of the physical and physiological challenges faced by recovering soldiers, veterans and their families by providing them a platform to inspire other military personnel with their athletic performances. PRP was entrusted to share this mission with the world, and to welcome the world to Toronto, Canada.
THE APPROACH
To bring the Invictus mission to life, hundreds of performers were enlisted – including men and women from all branches of the Canadian Armed Forces, dignitaries, musical stars and other special guests. PRP also integrated each individual audience member into the show with programmed LED wristbands, turning the stands of the Air Canada Centre into a canvas for an immersive light show. Among the highlights were a joint performance by Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams, as well as a moving speeches from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Prince Harry.
