2010 Paralympic Winter Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies
One Inspires Many
The 2010 Paralympic Winter Games were a celebration of ability, courage and the human spirit.
THE GOAL
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games were an opportunity to shine the spotlight on Canadian athletic, artistic and cultural excellence on a national and global scale. In welcoming the world to Vancouver and Whistler, the aim of these Ceremonies was to cultivate the lasting legacy of the 2010 Winter Games for Canadian communities, businesses, athletes and citizens across the nation.
THE APPROACH
PRP worked closely with the International Paralympic Committee and the Organizing Committee to tell the story of the Paralympic movement and honour the incredible achievements of the competitors and athletes from around the world. The Opening Ceremony featured over 5000 performers, including individuals with disabilities and highlighted Canada’s unique multicultural diversity. PRP also implemented mass community engagement – from thousands of local volunteer performers to one of the largest flash mobs in broadcast history.
