In Cleveland, Ohio, PRP was proud to produce the Opening Ceremony of Gay Games 9. Working closely with the GG9 Ceremonies Committee, Board of Directors, the Federation of Gay Games as well as the production team at Quicken Loans Arena, PRP created a spectacular production that celebrated the Gay Games, its participants and the unique aspects of the Cleveland and Akron region. From an Akron-inspired Rubber and Rock production number featuring local drag queens, to 50 Gay Games Superheroes saluting Cleveland, the home of Superman, the Ceremony was fun and upbeat. A cast of over 750 took to the floor including the 180-person Gay Games Chorus, more than 50 dancers, members of the Gay Rodeo as well as the Gay Games Cheer Team. Featuring *NSYNC star Lance Bass; The Pointer Sisters; and legendary athlete and inspirational speaker Greg Louganis, the Ceremony also included Broadway Legend Andrea McArdle and television star Alex Newell; Ohio-native singer-songwriter Anne E. DeChant; America’s Got Talent star Branden James; and a greeting from President Barack Obama. In an exciting moment, the torch honored the dedication and hard work of the Gay Games volunteers, until reaching the final torchbearer, Olympic speed skater Blake Skjellerup, who ignited a massive fire effect to begin Gay Games 9. Gay Games 9 features competition in more than 35 sports with over 6000 participants. PRP was proud to kick-off the festivities!
