PRP was proud to produce the Opening Ceremony of the 2015 Canada Winter Games at the CN Centre in Prince George, British Columbia on Friday, February 13th. Together with the local organizing committee, PRP staged a welcome to the athletes in spectacular fashion, with a show celebrating a Northern story, inviting all to “Journey With Us”. Inspired by Prince George’s unique location, considered a “hub” at the crossroads of many major paths, the Opening Ceremony celebrated the different journeys and unique ways that the athletes, spectators and visitors took to be a part of the Games. With an assembled cast of over 180 performers including BC’s-own Dear Rouge and local bands Bright City Heights and Black Spruce Bog, the Ceremony also prominently featured the Lheidli T’enneh, Official Host First Nation. Other highlights included the contemporary dance talents of Tristan Ghostkeeper; greetings from the Premier of British Columbia, Christy Clark; as well as notable Canada Games alumni, including Lui Passaglia and Cathy Preistner. The Opening Ceremony was broadcast live across Canada on TSN/RDS.

Held every two years, alternating between summer and winter, the Canada Games are a key event in the development of Canada’s young athletes. Athletes from 10 provinces and three territories will compete in 19 sports with the dream of becoming Canada’s next champions. PRP conceived and produced all Ceremony show elements including design, choreography, lighting and staging, overall production and integration with television.

Many thanks to the hundreds of volunteers, cast and crew!
