Friday, July 15th was the perfect summer evening to open the 2016 WBSC XV Women’s World Softball Championship in Surrey, BC. PRP was happy to produce the Opening Ceremony to kick off the event! Chilliwack-based X-Corps Drumline amped up the crowds with a dynamic percussion number before a high-energy Athlete Parade welcomed 31 international teams and their competitors into the diamond. Crowds and competitors were treated to a traditional performance by Eagle Song Dancers and Vancouver’s-own Marie Hui performed the national anthem amidst a patriotic display on-field including RCMP and a massive Canadian flag. Dignitaries in attendance included Member of Parliament for Cloverdale – Langley City, John Aldag; Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner; and Chairman of the 2016 WBSC 15th Women’s World Softball Championship Organizing Committee, Greg Timm. The Ceremony concluded with a colourful “Welcome to Canada” grand finale featuring over 75 choreographed dancers. The Opening Ceremony truly showcased and welcomed the countries represented by all teams. PRP was proud to be part of an event that celebrated women’s sport and, in Timm’s words, the power of the game “…to bring people together”!
